Gary Leffew’s Bucking Ball® Returns to the Tropicana Las Vegas

With the 2018 Wrangler National Finals Rodeo just around the corner, top cowboys and cowgirls from around the world have been preparing for the ultimate rodeo showdown. Rodeo fans will flock to Las Vegas, Nevada to enjoy this year’s spectacle. Along with the excitement in the rodeo arena, another main attraction for NFR fans to enjoy is Gary Leffew’s Bucking Ball®. Returning to the Tropicana Las Vegas by popular demand, this NFR after-party is sure to make another huge splash in Las Vegas this year.

Gary Leffew, born September 23rd, 1944, is no stranger to the rodeo world. As the 1970 PRCA World Champion Bull Rider, PRCA Hall of Famer, 8-time NFR Qualifier, and founder of the Gary Leffew Bull Riding School, Leffew has seen multiple successes in and out of the rodeo arena as well as in the movie and television industry. A rodeo guru and purveyor of the “Psycho-Cybernetics” method, Leffew’s Bull Riding School employs holistic and progressive training techniques for bull-riders, lending to why “Gary’s School has produced more PRCA, PBR, Canadian, NHSRA Champions and Finals qualifiers than any other bull riding school” (http://www.garyleffewsbullridingworld.com/).

But what is Gary Leffew’s Bucking Ball®? The first Bucking Ball was held in 1974 during the Cow Palace Rodeo in Daly City, California. This year the tradition continues at the Tropicana Las Vegas Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada. Occurring Friday, December 7th and Saturday, December 8th, this NFR after party will follow a closed circuit viewing party of the 2018 National Finals Rodeo. Held at the Cohiba Ballroom inside the Tropicana Las Vegas Resort & Casino and hosted by the legend himself, Gary Leffew, all rodeo fans are welcome to join the excitement. Following the viewing party, guests are invited to enjoy an evening of live music, dancing, drinks, and various giveaways. The party will kick off at 9pm each evening and will run until 1am.

This year’s entertainment includes Chancey Williams and The Younger Brothers Band. The concert will also include special guest, The Doo Wah Riders. Leffew himself shares, “I’m really thrilled to add some pizazz to the Bucking Ball this year with one of my favorite bands, Chancey Williams and the Younger Brothers Band!”

In an interview with Wrangler Network, Tropicana Las Vegas Vice President and General Manager Aaron Rosenthal states, “We are excited to welcome back Gary Leffew’s Bucking Ball® to Tropicana Las Vegas this December, Last year’s event was a tremendous success and was well received by our guests and WNFR fans, and we can’t wait to host this special event for a second year in a row.”

Gilbert Days Rodeo 2018

Gilbert, Arizona Celebrates 40 Years of Horsepower and History

Rodeo is a window to the past. For many of the western states, the sport of rodeo and the western lifestyle have played pivotal roles in the foundation of communities that thrive today.

Once known as “The Hay Capital of the World,” Gilbert, Arizona was founded on agriculture. Land that once grew acres of hay is now home to new restaurants, bars, and shopping districts. However, as Gilbert expands, one thing holds true and that is Gilbert, Arizona’s western heritage. Today, Gilbert celebrates its rich history each November with the month-long “Gilbert Days” celebration. Festivals, a parade, and the Gilbert Days Rodeo are just a few of the activities community members can attend and participate in.

The Gilbert Promotional Corporation (GPC) is the engine behind the vastly successful and popular Gilbert Days Rodeo. Made up entirely of volunteers, this Non-Profit Organization has been organizing, maintaining, and producing the Gilbert Days Rodeo since 1978. This year they are proud to celebrate 40 Years of Horsepower and History.

For the GPC, the Gilbert Days Rodeo is an integral part of Gilbert’s history and is the result of hard work, planning and love for the sport of rodeo all year-round. Having faced trials and tribulations when the original Gilbert Rodeo Grounds were lost in 2011, the GPC persevered and quickly found alternate grounds so that the Gilbert Days Legacy could carry on. As Gilbert, Arizona quickly grows and continues to develop, the GPC is nurturing and keeping Gilbert’s history alive through the annual Gilbert Days Rodeo.

As the Gilbert Promotional Corporation Celebrates the 40th Anniversary of the Gilbert Day’s Rodeo, they are also proud to celebrate the platform, “Kickin’ Up Kindness” created by the 1998 Gilbert Days Rodeo Queen, Shanda Brady Riggs. Today, Shanda’s daughter Kennadee Riggs is proud to hold the same title her mother did in 1998 as she follows in the footsteps of former Gilbert Days Rodeo Queens by “Kickin’ up Kindness.” The 2018 Gilbert Days Royalty Court includes, The 2018 Gilbert Days Rodeo Queen Kennadee Riggs, Rodeo Teen Queen Karlie Brewer, Rodeo Princess Lindsey Brewer, and Rodeo Missy Raylen Riggs. All four members of the royalty court encourage rodeo fans to share their kind deed stories and to always “Kick up Kindness” in everything you do!

Kicking off the month-long festivities is the Gilbert Days Pony Express Ride on November 9th and 10th. Just like it was done in the past, riders will travel from city to city to deliver mail across the state of Arizona. Beginning in Gilbert with a commencement ceremony, riders will travel through Sacaton, Stanfield, Casa Grande, Eloy, Coolidge, Florence, and Queen Creek, Arizona. Not only is this a thrilling experience for eligible horsemen and women in the community, but is a perfect example of history preserved to teach our present and future generations.

The Gilbert Days 5D Barrel Race will occur at the John Volken Academy on November 10th and is open to all riders.

As for the Gilbert Days Rodeo, this three-day event will occur November 16th, 17th, and 18th at the John Volken Academy located at 26601 South Val Vista Drive, Gilbert, Arizona 85298. Each Grand Canyon Professional Rodeo Association (GCPRA) Performance will be jam-packed with the most exciting rodeo entertainment that the entire family can enjoy. For the little cowboys and cowgirls in the family, a ‘Lil Dudes Rodeo will be held each day before the main rodeo performance on November 16th, 17th. The ‘Lil Dudes finals will take place in the main rodeo arena on the 18th. In addition to thrilling rodeo action and entertaining clown acts, food, drink, and shopping vendors will be present for fans to grab a bite to eat and shop around in between events.

Cowboy Lifestyle Network is excited to celebrate this year’s Gilbert Days Rodeo alongside the Gilbert Promotional Corporation. We hope you will join us in celebrating 40 years of Horsepower and History!

Bullfighters Only (BFO) World Championship 2018 returns to Tropicana Las Vegas

Grab your cowboy hats and pack your suitcases folks because Cowboy Lifestyle Network is headed to the Bullfighters Only Championship in sunny Las Vegas, Nevada! We invite you to join in on the fun and take part in cheering on some of the most impressive athletes and animal athletes the rodeo world has to offer.

In conjunction with the 2018 Wrangler National Finals Rodeo, Bullfighters Only will be returning to Las Vegas for their 2018 championship which will be held at 2pm, December 6th-15th at the gorgeous, Tropicana Las Vegas Resort & Casino.

With special BFO room rates starting at $45 per night, the time to book your stay at the Tropicana is now! Visit: https://book.passkey.com/event/49726506/owner/1356/home for more information on how you can book your 2018 NFR stay. Bullfighters Only CEO Aaron Ferguson states, “Tropicana Casino and Resort is affordable for people coming to Vegas that time of year. It’s right on The Strip and has easy access to all things rodeo during NFR. Plus, it’s just down the road from the Thomas & Mack Center.”

Featuring the most talented athletes in the game, such as two-time reigning BFO World Champion Weston Rutkowski, Bullfighters Only is the perfect entertainment for any thrill-seeker.

But what is Bullfighters Only? “Bullfighters Only is the world’s premier freestyle bullfighting competition series. Featuring an international roster of elite pros competing against the meanest fighting bulls for the largest purse in bullfighting history. Since its inception, BFO has evolved to become a platform that serves to excite the western community, educate both the avid and casual fans, and present the sport to an entirely new audience” (www.bullfightersonly.com). Audience members are kept on the edge of their seats as these athletes, jump, dodge, and dance around up to 1,500 pounds of charging bull!

However, BFO offers much more than a chance for competitors to display extreme athleticism, it also offers a sanctuary for the breed of bull, Toro Bravo, which is typically featured in traditional bullfighting rings in other countries, due to its natural instinct to charge. Bullfighters Only provides a much more humane experience for these animal athletes, who are celebrated as much as their human “dance partners” and are given the chance to live out their full lives in luxury as celebrated athletes. BFO’s fighting bulls such as “Spitfire” and “The Spaniard” have even become just as popular as their human counterparts!

Bullfighters Only CEO, Aaron Ferguson shares, “we had eight incredible days of competition last year. This year we’ve upped the ante, so to speak. We’re going to increase our performances, and we’re going to have a larger venue to allow for more fans to enjoy the show.”

With a purse of more than $50,000 and this year’s world champion receiving an additional $50,000 bonus, the stakes are high.

As of September 9th, 2018, current tour standings put bullfighters, Weston Rutkowski ($21,670) in first place, Kris Furr ($18,361) in 2nd, and Toby Inman ($15,675) in third. The first performance will feature the top 9 bullfighters in the standings as they compete for the Fourth Annual Roughy Cup. Rising talent will also have the opportunity to compete in a series of qualifier events.

Bullfighters Only, the Tropicana Las Vegas Resort & Casino, and Cowboy Lifestyle Network hope you will join us this December for the 2018 BFO World Championships in conjunction with the 2018 Wrangler National Finals Rodeo!

Rodeo Naked presents the 2nd Annual Benefit Rodeo in Queen Creek, Arizona!

Mark your calendars rodeo fans because Rodeo Naked is returning to Queen Creek, Arizona for the 2nd Annual Rodeo Naked Benefit Rodeo! In conjunction with Rodeo Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram and the Grand Canyon Pro Rodeo Association (GCPRA,) Rodeo Naked is proud to bring their 2nd Annual Benefit Rodeo to Horseshoe Park & Equestrian Centre on September 21st and September 22nd. Both performances will begin at 7:00 pm and are jam-packed with rodeo fun that the entire family can enjoy.

Photo Courtesy of Keene Design Photography

But who and what is Rodeo Naked? I was fortunate to interview Rodeo Naked’s founder, TJ Spoonhunter, and get a behind-the-scenes scoop on the company and its 2nd Annual Benefit Rodeo.

Spoonhunter, a Bareback and Bull rider, founded the clothing line Rodeo Naked in 2015 with the aim of creating a fashion line that would help up-and-coming cowboys and cowgirls make their rodeo dreams a reality. With each and every purchase from Rodeo Naked’s line, a portion of each sale is donated to help fund competition expenses for Rodeo Naked’s sponsored cowboys and cowgirls.

However, it isn’t only the cowboys and cowgirls that Rodeo Naked’s proceeds benefit. When asked about where the money from merchandise and rodeos is donated to, Spoonhunter shared, “last year we hosted our first benefit rodeo and it helped the victims of Hurricane Harvey. I personally drove all the donations to Houston and surrounding areas from Arizona and volunteered at the Red Cross, delivering food and goods to shelters and churches that were in need.” When asked about the proceeds that will be collected from the 2nd Annual Benefit Rodeo, Spoonhunter explained that “this year with all the fires in California, we plan on donating the proceeds to the first responders and the families affected by the fires. On the local level, we want to do something for our Veterans. There is a program called Horses for Heroes run by Hoofbeats with Heart that we want to donate to, where we can sponsor veterans with PTSD through equine therapy!”

This year’s 2nd Annual Benefit Rodeo is sure to carry on the Rodeo Naked tradition of community involvement and the continued support of current and future rodeo competitors. Spoonhunter explained that it is important for Rodeo Naked to be involved because, “Rodeo Naked is a means to be free and rodeo. With what I want to accomplish with the brand, putting on this rodeo gives our contestants another rodeo to compete in, keeping their dreams and the rodeo way of life alive. Up and coming contestants are our future and if we keep providing opportunities for them to do so, it will keep the sport alive. As a member and director of the Grand Canyon Professional Rodeo Association I want to bring as much to the table as possible to help grow the organization and give these contestants another rodeo to add to their season. Not only does a rodeo help the contestants, but it also provides other businesses an opportunity to sponsor and become a vendor to help promote their business. I believe it is important for Rodeo Naked to be involved, because we give back to a great cause and help support the future of our sport.”

Rodeo Naked will be returning to Horseshoe Park & Equestrian Centre (20464 East Riggs Road, Queen Creek, AZ 85142) for their 2nd Annual Benefit Rodeo. In addition to the full GCPRA lineup, Rodeo Naked is excited to announce that this year, a kid’s rodeo has been added, including Mutton Bustin’, Steer Riding, and Junior Barrel Racing.  The kid’s rodeo will occur at 5pm before each GCPRA performance. Gates will open at 4pm. The rodeo will also include two themed nights, one honoring first responders and the second honoring our past and present servicemen and women of the Armed Forces. Immediately following the Saturday evening performance, rodeo guests can also attend the 2nd Annual Benefit Rodeo Dance.
